The English Heritage Buildings story
It all began in 1979 with one man’s fascination for oak framed
buildings.
Over the coming years he bought several dilapidated Sussex farm buildings,
and with the help of his son, dismantled and lovingly restored them
on his own land. By 1983 he was the proud owner of two small timber
barns, a large, two storey oak frame barn and a cattle shed. This
hands-on-knowledge, combined with a background in modern construction
was the humble beginnings of the UK’s leading oak framed specialists.
In 2005 the founder retired and handed over the responsibility to
his son; the same son who had learned all about oak framed buildings
as a 10 year old boy.
A love of oak framing and traditional English craftsmanship remain
the backbone of the company to this day. |
